I think the problem is that Christians believe in God for more reasons than just Creation, and so they don't feel like they need to learn more about how things started off. Evolutionists have a whole lot more to learn, so they spend more time learning. I think Christians need to step it up a notch in knowing how God and science fit together. You can laugh but I know that they fit together VERY well. The problem is that there are only a few people who spend enough time find out WHY it fits. So Christians end up looking ignorant.

haha sorry that was kind of off topic but it was something I've been thinking about for a while.

geeks are not atheists simply because they may know "more" but also because they choose to think differently
I can agree with this; I'd call myself a geek (the rest of my grade 5 class did), and I think the main reason I've shied away from any religion is because not a single one matched my system of beliefs. I guess I'm just too logical to be able to attach myself to any religion (the bible has so many contradictions within it - even as I kid I doubted its 'correctness' and 'holiness').

Interesting article, I'd love to see some of the debates that result from this.

After reading the article, it brings up some amazing points. Some things that I've felt but never really crystallized.

Fantastic article!

Personally i believe that we are evolving, that we have potential, maybe someone helped us evolve but i dont believe that "someone" above it's almighty and has a spiritual form and all that bull**** , that is made for controlling masses.

If the Bible was right then there would be after life, and if there is something after life someone would return from there (because the rules are always broken at least once) No one came back. Plus the bible has some self negations and contradictions.

Well I'm aetheist - I tend to believe proven facts, rather than a book. Especially a book with contradictions!

I, too, am atheist.

To understand my thoughts on why some people are religious and some are not, read this amazing article called Viruses of the Mind by Richard Dawkins. (or read the Wikipedia overview)

Of course geeks are atheists. If you were dealt a geek's hand in life you would have to deny God's existance or you would have to believe that he was out to get you! <grin>

Don't confuse geeks with nerds. That's just a rookie mistake :)

You are right... I suppose nerds are a subset of geeks?

You could say that, although there are other, more subtle differences.

I am an atheist for the simple reason that I have never seen any evidence supporting the existence of a god.

And yes, I am a geek.

That's kind of the whole point though. To be religious, you have to, at some point, take a leap of faith and ignore all the evidence.

It is hard to believe the bible at it's core once you take a history lesson or two. The bible was not constructed in some magical way by the lord himself... back in the day some preist held a committie to decided what populor spoken myths would be gathered into the book.

I believe there is a god, I have no proof, nore do I need it to be sure. However, I am not sure if any of the organized religions today know what they are talking about.
