Hmmm..... I'd be a bit worried about infection, but if I HAD to have a c-sect, I'd want one of these. I spose they'd have the mom scrub up pretty well. The mom can feel where the kid is, and bring it out fairly well.... I always hated the screens up blocking hte view. Anyone who hates the sights involved iin childbirth to that extent shouldn't have a kid! I'd be so busy being fascinated with the whole procedure that I wouldn't be squicked. And I would love the idea of being the first to touch the baby. That would be special.

Having had the procedure, I was greatful for the screen. Even seeing the pics later that were taken during the birth, I was pretty weebed out; it's pretty messy and seeing your insides laying outside your body is just frightening. Maybe I'm just squeamish about that kind of stuff...

But I do agree, bcgrote, that it is pretty special to be the first to touch a new baby! I gave that gift to my husband, though.

I thought "Ewwww", why?

Then I showed it to my Daughter-in-law, who is a nurse and pregnant. Her response was "Cool, I would love to do that."

I love her anyway.

i had a vaginal followed by 4 c sections. the 1 and 2 csecs i felt disconnected but the last 2 were extensive surgeries and there was just no way for that type of complacency. it depends on the case.. and i agree about the high risk of infection. of which i also suffered.

I used to love watching the vets perform caesarean sections on our cows - it always looked so cool!

I would be worried about infection in this case, though. There's a reason doctors are trained on this procedure.

I think I'd be a little weirded out with the idea of sticking my hands into my open abdomen.
