This is due to many factors: the Cold War, in which the US government needed troops around the globe to counter the threat of the Soviet Union; and more recently, The War on Terror. The US has nearly 1.4 million active personnel, and over 369,000 of those are deployed outside the United States and its territories.

OpEd: You are Destroying America. Yes, You. Posted: 2 years ago by democracy101
Terrorism will never destroy America. It will come from within. From fear-addicts who have raped the U.S. so much that they should be drawn up on charges of treason. The cowards who want a nanny state to coddle them, hug them, and ultimately contain them in a little crib with bars and monitors and cameras.

Cricket—now played by millions of people in 92 countries ranging from the Caribbean to Europe to Africa to South Asia—was once the national game of, yes, these United States. And one of the first outdoor sports to be played on these shores. Who Won The War of 1812? Posted: 3 years ago by 2manyusernames
"In 1814 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip,
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we fought the bloody British in the town of New Orleans."
The War of 1812 in which "The Battle of New Orleans" was fought was a war between the British and the United States, with Canada and the Native-Americans thrown in as well.
The question is who won that war? Lets put it this way, what Americans learn in school is different than what Canadians learn.
