10 Steps to a Fascist America
10 Steps to a Fascist America
An article from the Guardian. It's a little hysterical in sections, but worth a look. picked by Fascha 3 years ago

« dollyllama : For now, I'm going to keep this short and not go point-by-point. I will however search for some cites and articles if you want. Though, while you say you want me to convince you, I don't believe you're any less stubborn than I am and therefore, you won't be convinced.
You must have been talking to my wife! ;) You're right - I am very stubborn!

...but I'm also persuaded by the facts. If you are willing to locate some credible news sources that support what you are saying, I'd certainly like to read them.

I really don't want to spin my wheels, especially since those articles have all been published already and if you've read them already and excused the message, my showing them to you again is just a waste of my time.
I'll let you be the judge of what is a waste of your time. However, I am willing to consider all viewpoints that can be substantiated. I've only excused articles like this one that present no credible facts - just hype.

I am not trying to convince you, I don't even want to. I agree with the article. I am disappointed that there are so many that cannot yet see it, but it really isn't going to matter. If we go the way of a fascist state then I'll be long gone, I promise not to send you a note saying "I told you so". If I'm wrong, then I'll thank God I was :)
That is my main beef with this article... just because someone yells that the sky is falling, it doesn't make it true. I wish authors like this would cite documented facts to support all the allegations instead of inflammatory rhetoric.

And as for previous corrupt administrations, they're reign is done, why shold I worry about what George Washington did, he isn't affecting me today. To use that as an excuse to allow this corrupt government to get away with breaking the law and deteriorating our freedoms would be foolhardy.
I mentioned previous corrupt administrations because every generation sees things through the prism of current events. There were plenty of times when people in this country felt that we were on the brink of self destruction. In the 50's, people were so convinced everything was going to hell that they built nuclear bomb shelters in their back yards.

During the McCarthy era, everyone was even more suspicious of the government than they are today... all these things passed without us descending into a dictatorship or some fascist hellhole with no way out.

This will be my last post on this thread. If you'd like to discuss it further, I think it best to move this to the forum.

I was going to send you a private message but I can't find that option anymore. I'll message you through worth, if that's ok.
