The similarity in size, combined with the ease of face-to-face sex, allowed intercourse to become a vital part of social interaction, communication and inventiveness.

So cavemen also dragged their women by the hair and had kinky sex lives. In other words not much has changed since the cavemen times

Well, you wouldn't notice if you were used to it. Now our noses (and mouths) have become a bit finicky. I speak for myself at least.

I couldn't help thinking of that scene in "History of the World" where the first homo sapiens marriage was shortly followed by the first homosexual marriage. Ah, cavemen.

Not sure I agree with all of their conclusions (what proof do they have that a "phallic" symbol was used sexually, rather than spiritually).

That said, none of this is really suprising. Every generation thinks they invented sex, and (with only one exception), they are all wrong. People tend to assume that current morals have always been, because they are somehow "natural and obvious". You don't have to go to pre-history to see examples of large, dominating societies had different moral views than us. Look at early Greek societies. Young boys often socialized only with others boys and young men. Homosexuality was the normal social condition before marriage, and sometimes afterward. Multiple spouses has been seen throughout many cultures up to the present day. The Greeks didn't have the legend of the island of Lesbos because they were "missionary-position" worshipping puritans. (Speaking of which, it wouldn't be called missionary-position, unless missionaries were trying to say that other positions were not acceptable, so other positions must have existed.)
