Wonder what happened to the man who molested him.

Adult prison is no place for a sixteen-year-old boy. He needs intensive therapy, not adult prison. Being in prison with grown men is going to just mess him up more. His life is pretty much ruined now. How depressing.

He was old enough to know better. It was his choice.

Don't want to go to adult prison and ruin your life? Don't break the law. It's that simple.

He's sixteen. Sixteen year olds are by no means able to reason as an adult. I am not saying that what he did wasn't horrible, but he shouldn't be going to an adult prison.

He was probably molested as a child; most molesters were. He needs intensive therapy.

16 year olds may not have the same reasoning capacity as an adult, but I think that even a 16 year old would think f***ing some children you are babysitting is WRONG though.

Maybe he was molested as a kid, I feel for him if he was, but doing what he did was acting as a predator with children in placed in his trust. How many other would he have molested had he had the chance?

He deserves to be removed from the protection of society.

He didn't sodomize them; he forced them to fellate him.

Same argument Bill Clinton used. doesn't make it any more acceptable. IMO Fellatio is still f***ing. Still rape.

Actually when you force a 2 and 4 year old to fellate you...life IS that simple.

Think about it for a second. A TWO YEAR OLD.

AFAIC, life is so very very simple in this case. I would apply these same rules to my own children if they were in his situation.

The question is, which are you more interested in? Punishing him, or making him a better person? Does anyone honestly believe that he will come out of prison a better person?

The goal of the justice system should be to take people who victimize others and making it so they don't victimize others. The DoJ should not be in the business of revenge.

I was going to reply to some of your comments, but I'm honestly sick to my stomach at some of the views expressed here.

No matter how you look at it -- legally or morally -- it was wrong. Society has already decided that it was wrong. He must have known it was wrong.

And so, just as all of the rest of us, he must live with the consequences society has imposed because of his wrong actions.

Anyone who can't see that is just Irresponsible.

And yes, it really is that simple.

It really isn't, the problem here is the fact that this 16 year old is going to be punished as an adult. If society is going to impose the same punishment onto 16 year olds as they do to adults, they have to allow them the right to enjoy the same perks. The reason most people adhere to a social code is because in return they are given the right by society to do things like buy alcohol, drive a car and most importantly vote.
He obviously has to be punished, and if they're going to give him five years why not put him into a juvenile facility for two and then transfer him to a state prison?

What the hell is wrong with you people? I agree he needs help, but he's only going to get f**ked up worse in adult prison. The judge who sent him there should be fired. He needs to be in a place with people his own age, and surrounded by psychologists.

Punishing him. The moment he used a baby as a sex object I stopped wanting to make him a better person.

Does anyone honestly believe that he will come out of prison a better person?
No, I do not, that is not the goal of prison. That is the goal of a therapist. If he wishes I am sure he can see one while he is in there.

The goal of the justice system should be to take people who victimize others and making it so they don't victimize others. The DoJ should not be in the business of revenge.
This is EXACTLY what is being done. He will not victimize others while in prison.

Unfortunately, recidivism rates on sex offenders is outrageously high...IMO they cannot be successfully rehabilitated. I personally hold far more strict sentencing guidelines that what are usually handed out. And just as I said before, I would put those same beliefs on my children or myself if we ended up engaging in said acts.

Here are my sentencing guides:

1st Offense - Mandatory 10 yrs, no possibilty of early release. Lifetime parole.

2nd Offense - Mandatory 25 yrs, no possibilty of early release. Lifetime parole.

3rd Offense - Death. Yes death. And no, I am not kidding.

Nobody is saying or implying it wasn't wrong, there's no room for discussion on that part of the story.

And so, just as all of the rest of us, he must live with the consequences society has imposed because of his wrong actions.
Exactly. But what does society actually impose in this case? Why is he treated as an adult when he is a juvenile, did society impose this and if so, why? That's what the discussion is about.

It's not simple, all kinds of ethics come into play, and that's never simple.

Nowaday there's even research that hints that free will isn't even existant, how's that going to mess up the justice system eh? To give just one example.

The whole justice system isn't perfect in any way, future and historical morals could be radically different on this topic. Some say eye for an eye while others say that some crimes shouldn't even be punished because the punishment won't prevent any future crimes (like accidental killing for example). It's very complex.
