That needs to be outlawed, and it's about f**king time it started happened. This is one of the most barbaric and inhumane practices in the world. It's hard to respect any culture that would allow this to happen.

I agree. It isn't something we should be doing to our daughters.

Many can and will argue that its not something we should be doing to our boys either.

However since thats a part of the anatomy I don't own, I left that decision up to my husband.

That's an interesting debate between male and female circumcision. What's barbaric, what's just tradition, what's hygenic?

Female circumcision, however, almost ALWAYS entails removing the clitoris so that sex can never be enjoyable and may, in fact, be consistently painful. The idea is that a woman won't want to have sex if it hurts, therefore maintaining their virginity until marriage. Males are rarely robbed of their ability to enjoy sex, so it's hard to compare the two in that sense.

I have never understood the hang up we have with female virginity. It's worth mutilating her body and making sex miserable for the rest of her life just so no one will plow in her furrow too soon? That seems like an extreme case of the cure being worse than the disease...
