US Presidents Can Serve More Than 2 Terms Soon?
US Presidents Can Serve More Than 2 Terms Soon?
One thing is certain about the 2008 presidential election campaign that begins in one year: It won't involve George W. Bush as a candidate.

But bipartisan legislation to repeal the 22nd Amendment restriction of two terms for U.S. presidents could change that certainty for future presidents.

I believe that NO elected official, regardless of what office he or she holds, should ever be allowed more than 2 terms.

I think that so much good could be done if you get rid of these lifers who are hungry for power and stay in office for a hundred years and get in people who have a legitimate agenda, let them fight for their agenda and then get the hell out.

As long as we have an electoral college and not election by popular vote there should be no repeal of a two-term limit. Until this country actually elects "by the people and for the people" and not by some skewed results from inaccurate (I'm being kind) machines, we do not have actual and fair results.

Hear freaking hear. My vote hasn't counted since 1991.

The whole thing is f-ed up and too easily becomes a numbers game to beat by the best manipulators; it's not "accurate", and it's not representative of what real people actually want.

Oust the electoral college. End the red state/blue state debate and let actual voters be the votes that count.

Oh, yeah. And two terms is plenty. We need to shake up our insulated little Washington snowglobe every once in a while to keep the politicians at least pretending they care about the rest of the country.

I think 2 terms...8 years is plenty, and a good number too. I think it becomes more like a monarchy or a dictatorship. The american people in general need a change of leadership every 4-8 years.

I wish there was a limit on how long senitors could serve too. there are a few ingrown senitors (who haven't been sober for years hint hint) who just need to be removed from office.

What does it matter... Thanks to the Bush family, WW3 is probably coming soon and the odds of any of us being around to see what's after that are unlikely. Don't worry, in 30billion years, the cockroaches will evolve and dig up our ruins, like we did with the Dinosaurs. THANKS PREZ!

YEs, the electoral college made sense in its day. That day was 200 years ago. Times have changed just a tad since then. It is time that this outdated and unfair method of voting is ousted.

If the Amendment were ever repealed in the next few years, I'd do whatever I could to get Slick Willie elected again.

...I think many others might fall to his feet and beg, too. 'Cept I don't know if I'd want the job of cleaning up Shrub's mess.

I never really got why the entire electoral college votes of a state go to one candidate. Wouldn't it be more logical to split them up? Like when a state votes 40-60, 40% of the electoral college votes goes to one candidate and 60% to the other. At least the minority vote in a state has value then. Which in turn would encourage, for example, republicans in New York and Democrats in Texas to actually bother to go vote. Cause voting turnout can really use a budge.
