I am an electricity junkie. My kitchen is all electric when the power fails I go through internet withdrawal. However, domestic use is not the only or biggest source of power drain. I mean those big sky scrapers and offices need to have a/c and or heating some how. And they have computers, printers, copiers, etc. Just a thought.

It's my understanding that LCD TV's actually use less power than equally sized CRT models. If you were to take the amount of power that went through a CRT and dump it into an LCD, you would get a burned out screen pretty fast. I don't know how the power consumption compares for plasma or LCD projectors though.

That's a good point, I know that where I live, a/c is one of the biggest power consumers, both residentially and commercially.
