Remember Bonsai Kittens, the ancient internet hoax site about growing deformed kittens inside bottles? Apparently not everyone is in on the joke. picked by VooDooPeacock 2 years ago

Apparently the FBI doesn't like them much either!

Here's a current "bonsai kitten" site:

Can't believe that people would fall for this.

Really upset that such basic freedoms are being eroded. This site is free speech pure and simple. This site is exactly what the Freedom is supposed to protect. Even the law mentioned regarding have a picture of "animal cruelty" is f'd up. Not only is it an attack on free speech, but the law is crazy because how can you define "animal cruelty". Some idiots think having a pet is cruel, having a seeing eye-dog is cruel. Heck some people think killing a fly, cockroach, etc is cruel and should be labeled murder. How do you define what is "cruel"?

I agree 2many. Fact is, my neighbours' mistreatment of their dogs is FAR worse than the actual cruelty put upon on animals at this site.

Many people just need something to yell about... 'valid' or not. Makes them feel more powerful, I 'spose. (or less impotent...)

Aren't fake pictures of bottled kittens better than pictures of real bottled kittens? Please correct me if I'm wrong here...

I think what happens is people who don't 'get it' get all indignant about it go on a crusade and then when they find out the joke is on them their pride is too damaged to ever admit that it's silly and their rampage escalates.. Kind of like that simian in the oval office!

The biggest problem here is the increase in a push for laws and petitions to protect the stupid. That's really what PETA is doing..trample free speech rights of an MIT student to protect the stupid people who think it's real.

If that's the case then CNN better start a petition to get TheOnion shut down because some of those news stories have leaked and stupid people thought they were real.

It's a good thing Orson Welles did his thing in 1938..he'd be fined, sued, and arrested today!

And the whole illegality of it being a "felony to possess 'a depiction of animal cruelty' with the intent to distribute across state lines" ..means anybody selling of photo of a hunter hunting should be arrested as well. Oh yeah...hunting isn't considered cruetly to animals, I forgot.

I blame the people who invented those safety caps for electrical outlets so that kids can't stick their fingers in them! There were far less stupid people in the world before we started protecting them. :)

indeed!
no surprise really just remember Peta is about bringing in money. And that is ALL.
the ceo makes millions a year, they layout tons of money for big time marketing campaigns but do NOTHING to help animals. Lets not forget the cases of peta killing peoples pets, sometimes in the van outside the peoples own house! instead of building shelters or even passing the animals on to shelters like they lead thier owners to believe.

Peta=murder!

Not to mention one of the head honchos has diabetes and uses insulin which was developed and produced by . . . ANIMAL TESTING! So apparently testing meds on animals is OK if it keeps PETA officials alive. The rest of us are screwed.
