Sex taken off the menu if you are a meat eater
Vegansexuals are people who do not eat any meat or animal products, and who choose not to be sexually intimate with non-vegan partners whose bodies, they say, are made up of dead animals. picked by Hoosker 2 years ago

I've always thought of vegans as essentially being fundamentalist vegetarians and I'm not a fan of fundamentalist anything.

But there are two things that went through my mind from this article.

One - it's mutual. I've never met a vegan I wanted to have sex with. I guess we can co-exist quite nicely without this being an issue.

Two - If you're vegan, surely bodily fluids are out of the question anyway?

One: This is a very, very small percentage of the vegan population. It almost sounds like a new trend in New Zealand.

Two: I've noticed a smaller percentage of vegans that have issues with meat eaters, than meat eaters that have issues with vegans. Why is that?

Vegans are like Catholic priests...

Everyone KNOWS priests get horny...it is biology.

Everyone KNOWS vegans find themselves salivating despite themselves at the distant smell of hamburgers on the grill....it is once again...BIOLOGY...Animals smell good while cooking, therefore we WANT TO EAT THEM.

Denying yourself temptation is fine, even noble...so long as you don't try to go around saying you aren't tempted.

I've known quite a few vegans (lived in a university town for 7 years - plenty of cranks there) and boy did they ever have a problem with meat eaters. Pretty much 100%. But that is just anecdotal - can't quote you any numbers.

I think the main reason that meat eaters who have come into contact with vegans is that vegans preach. Constantly.

And they look really pale and unhealthy.

Hmm, I've known quite a few also, and except for a few being a little condescending, must of them don't care what others eat. I don't know what the percentage of vegans that give it up for animal issues, but the ones that do it for health reasons don't usually care what anybody eats.

The ones I've known were vegan for ethical reasons. I guess this is where the difference lies.

I was raised around vegans. I'm sorry, but this isn't true. First, they live the lifestyle because it is healthy. You get more fiber and protein from plant-based matter than meats, plus you avboid the saturated (bad) fats. Second, healthy is sexy, some I don't really understand why you wouldn't sleep with a vegan.

Different calibre of vegans then. You say you were raised around vegans and I'm assuming that means in a family sense - probably under the care and guidance of parents who have had some considerable experience.

As I said, my experience was in a university town. One ALF video, a lack of understanding about nutrition and a student's food budget do not make for healthy.

I will concede that in the same situation, there were some sickly looking meat eaters about, but proportionally nowhere near as many.

My experience of vegans is that they did look undernourished and pale.

Yours may differ.

That is nothing new, there have allways been vegans/vegetarians that wont be intimate with carnivore partners. As a vegetarian the only problem I have is kissing my boyfriend when he still has meat on his breath..eeew!

I never thought so. I still eat dairy and eggs because I can barely find vegetarian friendly food at my parents house, but when I move out I plan on going vegan. There are various reasons that people stop eating meat and other animal products and I wish you would not group those who choose to do so with crazy peta members (god I hate them for sterotyping vegans)

I have read enough about the laws regarding animal treatment at farms to decide that I do not wish to contribute to it. I see meat eating as natural for human beings, but I also see it as immoral... kinda like rape, polygamy, and dictatorship. Granted it may sound like I value animals lives above humans (at least my militant father thinks so) but I see no reason why our pain should be the only pain that matters. Certainly there are vegans who are a little crazy about their cause, but I'm sure everyone can agree that the same thing is true for various other minority groups.

I guess I am dragging on a bit aren't I? I just can't stand being grouped together with extremists -_-

Why blame veganism as a whole over the actions from some angsty, college neo hippies who don't quite get it?

I cannot tell you how many times in my life I have met some poser kid claiming to be an anarchist, but who also shells money into the corporate financial system, or some neighbor-loving babtist, but who also hates gays.

It wouldn't be reasonable of me to use this as an excuse for bashing a certain set of personal politics or religion.

No, my point was that I'm going to bad-mouth lifestyles just because I have witnessed people living them in the wrong manner.

There is a whole lot of stupids out there who just want to make an image of themselves.
