Whether it inspired this or not, it's described by Chris Morris in the Richard Geefe columns. They're quite a long read, but the passage in question is thus:

`Richard's conduct that evening proved to me that the man I had known and loved was effectively already dead even as he talked and drank. He told us that the best way to kill yourself was to buy 200 feet of nylon rope, tie one end round your neck, the other round a lamppost, get in your car and floor the accelerator. That's how his uncle had done it. Richard was just nine years old. And he'd been forced to ride in the car to stop it crashing when his uncle's head came off. The blood had made the pedals slippery.
The whole thing is worth reading if you get the chance, and to that end I've set up a link here

He then went on to use the same thing in a lengthy monologue in his ambient comedy radio show BlueJam

You can download all of Bluejam here.

He then used it again in the intro to one episode of Jam, the TV version of the radio show.

You'll not be surprised to learn that I've posted a link to that very intro here

Sorry if you were just pondering and that was too much of an info onslaught.

The other thing that I was curious about was Castle Rock.

Isn't that the fictional town in Maine where most of Stephen King's novels take place?

i'm wondering if the chris morris material inspired this particular suicide. i never heard of him before but maybe this guy did and agreed it sounded like an efficient method.

either way.....wow. 0_o

Chris Morris is a bit of a comedy hero of mine (can you tell?) but I've got no idea whether his material has travelled abroad or not. One of those things, I guess. It's possible that this guy was familiar with one of those sources, or knew someone who was. It's also possible that he came up with the idea on his own. Chris Morris did, after all.

Definitely creative. I wonder where the head wound up? In the car or out?
