Oh that makes me so mad.

(The Red Cross is one of my personal buttons).

The International Red Cross was founded in 1863 - 24 years before Johnson & Johnson started using it. It's an inversion of the Swiss flag, something intended to convey the IRC's neutrality. The symbol, as such, did not exist until Henry Dunnant created it, and had no prior association with medical care.

What is really insane, isn't this aspect to the story, but the fact that to avoid offending people and to be sensitive to their insane ramblings, the Red Cross also uses a red crescent and a red crystal (they can't use a Star of David, but individual countries can add one).


I mean when the most important aspect of a company trying to provide emergency relief is that their symbol isn't one that can be taken as a religious symbol is insanity.

They should never have changed from the Red Cross symbol. They shouldn't have ever changed their symbol. Their cross wasn't a Christian cross.

My son's name is Cross. I wonder if they'll sue me next.

Johnson & Johnson aren't doing themselves any favors with this kind of publicity.

the red cross is all about HELPING PEOPLE! they're not even competing with J&J! J&J just wants to get some easy money... >:(
