A backpacker fell prey to one of Southern California's lesser-known hazards: being gored by an American bison on Santa Catalina Island.
What would posses someone to get within 20 feet of a 2000 pound wild animal?

What would posses someone to get within 20 feet of a 2000 pound wild animal? good question maven. a lot of people seem to have this disneyesque view of wild animals. i've seen more than one video (online and on tv) of people getting way to close to wild animals, keeping them as 'pets' or climbing over guard rails at zoos.... it always seems to end badly for both the human and the animal. this video comes to mind for me:
