So, did they call you back and say, "uh, sorry, the truck fell apart, can you send another?"

I was off. Son's wedding. I shall get details today when I go in.

I LOVE that department actually. Their sister station is the New York fire station that lost some firefighters at 911. They come down every yr and party with OUR fire department. Their trucks even are painted New York style, with the orange and yellow stripes on the side...two flags mounted on the back.

They respond with EMS to all calls and they are the greatest group of guys to work with. They just started cutting the budget. Doh.

Budget cuts started yesterday

Of course you know more details than I do TM but I have worked with many departments on the west coast and have never heard of budget cuts that affected any of the departments trucks.
The trucks out here always remain pristine and close to flawless. It almost appears that either A. Something was hit extremely hard causing fasteners to break
or
B. Recent work was done at a shop involving the rear axel.

but like I said, I really am just guessing and don't know the circumstances.

B. was my thought as well. I hope it was the shop that worked on the axel though! WOW!

and yes, trucks are kept pristine, so something smells funny about all this.
