When my son was born, he had little boobies, and they produced milk. The doc told me that it was normal and would go away after a short while. That was weird enough. I had no idea that a man could nurse. I wonder what will happen when their man boobs become engorged with milk.

It is from the hormones produced by Mom. His little nipples were enlarged and he even had little boobs. It was gone and he was "normal" after about 2 weeks. I am glad the doc told me, otherwise I would have freaked. My daughters didn't do this. And you would think girls would. Bodies are an amazing thing.

Yeah, in addition to newborns sometimes producing milk, baby girls can also have a period of sorts, again from the vast amounts of hormones from Mom. Pregnancy and childbirth are crazy things, there are like a million little facts about them that you learn as you go through it.

I've heard of male lactation before, but never really tried to learn more about it. I tell you, though, the first couple weeks of breastfeeding were so incredibly painful for me, that I really wished my husband could have experienced it. If only to get him to wait on me more.

I think men feel abandoned sometimes when the wife goes off to nurse. Some men would like that time to nurse the child as well, though they would never openly admit it.

Male lactation, or lactation of a female that hasn't recently had a child, is possible through repeated "stimulation" of the nipple. After enough stimulation prolactin is released which stimulates the production of breast milk. I took a course on child development. We spent a good week on this. :)

I would think that breasts are a sign of fertility. This follows right along with other parts of a woman's body such as hips (larger = more estrogen), lips (more estrogen again), and others.
