Muslim Day Parade Met With Protesters
Muslim Day Parade Met With Protesters
The 22nd Annual Muslim United American Muslim Day parade in New York was peaceful but was met with protesters Sunday. The odd thing is that the parade was held the last day of the month for 20 years but was changed to Sept 9th this year. Some felt that was insulting. As was the route that took them near Ground Zero.Accusations have also been made against some of the paraders of supporting terrorism. picked by 2manyusernames 2 years ago

I am all for them having their parade. That is great (I do have a problem with some of the people involved with the parade, but in general it is an event that can help American and Muslims relations.

I don't have a problem with them going near Ground Zero provided that is their normal route for the last decades.

However, changing the date to Sept 9th is very insulting and in-your-face. I assume if there was a reason that the change was required the reports would have said so. It really does look like it was done as an insult. Perhaps I am wrong.

I think moving the date is a little suspect, also. Or who knows? Maybe the reason is trivial.

I don't know about the date change but the event seemed like a nice idea. Why protest something that (quite honestly) doesn't have anything to do with Sept. 11th.

The whole point of this is the date change.
You didn't see some sort of Japanese parades in 1947 go past Pearl Harbor December 5th.

Changing the date after 20+ years is a calculated insult.

Let's forget for the moment some of the people involved with the parade that are supportive of terrorism. The date change alone is extremely suspect.

But the thing is, the date was changed to sept. 9th. That is not Sept. 11th. As for japanese parades, Japan was an enemy of the U.S.. It was a nation not a religion.
