Abandoned Plane Wrecks of the North
Abandoned Plane Wrecks of the North
The Arctic North (northern parts of Canada and Alaska) is a cruel environment for men and machine; for planes it is no different. The weather creates all sorts of hazards, the terrain offers its own variety of opportinuties for disaster. picked by ogri2003 2 years ago

I assure you there are.

There are still many planes that have 'disappeared' into the north since the 1950's, and every year or so someone stumbles upon another one. Usually they're just small planes, though.

These pictures give me uncomfortable chills - I'm always flying in bush planes in the bush (or tundra). I know it's just a matter of time before I'm involved in another accident.

I suppose that's why the saying here goes 'there are old pilots and there are bold pilots'.

Me too tundra! I used to fly daily in beavers up north. There are more than a couple of times I've almost ended up on photos like these. And yes, those pilots rock!

Some of the links still work, and they give an idea, but I'm hoping the site comes back up soon, because they've more whetted my appetite than anything else.
