I wish there was something like this for really ancient inventions : Like the wheel, and fire.

My top 5 would be this:
5: Boat (Or anything that can be used as a boat): A very old invention, underestimated for its importance. In ancient times, rafts were already used for rivers, and later even oceans.

4: Wheel : The youngest invention of the list, but where would we be without this thingy ? It eased transportation of about everything and is probably the main cause of true civilisation.

3: Rope: The thing that binds, is used for a long times. This most basic invention can be made from almost anything. Without it, many things like watersacks remain open.

2: Fire: The second oldest on the list, this invention has been around before humans did. Evidence suggest that Homo Erectus knew how to control fire. Fire didn't only make food more digestible, but it gave protection against predators. Without fire, we probably wouldn't have existed, if it wasn't for one invention preceeding it.

1: Axe/knife: The oldest invention and the most important one, the axe/knife. This invention came a million years before fire. It was the first multipurpose tool made. It could be used for killing, skinning, cutting, hacking, tenderising. Almost everything made afterwards, cannot be made withou the axe/knife. Need to make a boat ? You must use an axe for wood. Need fire ? Use sparks from the axe. Need to take down that mammoth ? etc...
Without the axe, or anything that can be used as a cutting device, we would all have very different lifestyle.
