I didn't want to bring up my religion on Plime but this article has forced my hand. Since the FLDS "church" is not affiliated to the mainstream LDS Church or Mormon Church then why even mention it at all in the first sentence of the article. They are not a "splinter group", they are in no way, shape, or form related to my chosen religion. This isn't a shot at you, punthe, just a comment on the news article itself. I am glad this idiot has finally been found, tried, and convicted. I hope he gets the maximum sentence and serves time.

About three-quarters of the way through the article AP explains...

"The mainstream Mormon Church, or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, renounced polygamy more than a century ago, excommunicates members who engage in the practice, and disavows any connection to the FLDS church."

Frankly, the LDS should be suing Jeffs for some kind of name infringement on naming his cult FLDS. It really doesn't have anything to do with LDS practices and gives them a bad name.

Most people (I hope) are smart enough to realize that Mormon's have nothing to do with polygamy.

And if this all went down in Utah, you can rest assured that the prosecutor, the judge, half the jury, and a good portion of the police who take care of this guy are probably LDS. No offense intended, I'm LDS as well. I've been to Utah and it's an amazing place, very twilight-zone when you go there on a Sunday and see the cities roll back to the 50s with everyone being nice, polite, dressed up... etc.
