Here are some examples of vehicle cemeteries around the world, areas on earth that have unwittingly become the home to rusting, unused machines - remember, this is just a selection of the many boneyards on earth and while they often look stunning and make for a great photo, the environmental costs far outweigh the view.

We do acquire a lot as a people and as individuals. We just moved across the country and despite getting rid of a lot we still have way too much. And so it would appear this country has way too much. We don't know what to do with it all.

Crazy to see the B1B's and F14 tomcats, and f111's and other swing wing aircraft in various positions of wing extension. I searched all over the Gmap for the out of service SR71s and U2's but didn't see them.

I searched all over the Gmap for the out of service SR71s and U2's but didn't see them. If you can find the USS Intrepid, there's an SR71 on a floating dock right beside it. I've never looked for it on Google, but I've seen it in person.
edit: Just checked. My memory was a little scrambled. The SR71 is on the deck of the intrepid. Very cool to see from space. The plane that was on the barge was a concorde. It's actually kinda funny bc the image of the concorde had the image of another ship mapped on top of it. If you look though, you can see the back of one of the concorde's wings underneath the ship. It looks almost like a shark's fin behind the ship.

Cool pictures, and like sykeo said, a lot of potential for art. And recycling, for that matter.
It's gotten me all excited for this weekend's trip to the junk yard. I have to go get a part for my car (I'm too damned cheap to buy new parts), and I was planning on bringing my camera along for all the unloved and rusty old cars there.
