Very interesting read. And I bet it will be very accurate as well. His "Venetian Screen" already exists, I have seen them, they are called FOLEDs for Flexible OLEDs.

Very similar to this item only it can roll up like a sheet of thick plastic wrap.

I was going to say that some people save newspapers, but then you can always print the article you wish to save. But if the newspaper truly becomes extinct, then what will people line their bird cages with?

I like the way you named the copy-cats of iphone as iClones. Does that mean these imitations are from apple as well? ;)

Very interesting read, but: I don't think paper-based newspapers will be out of business that fast at all. Certainly not in the few months needed for the average person to upgrade/replace his/her cellphone twice...
In Europe and the UK, we are seeing more and more paper newspapers that are distributed free on trains and buses, so they clearly survive without subscriptions.
Yes, the technology exists to read on handheld screens (or digital "paper"), and it has been possible to read books in e-book format for a number of years already. You would think this would be the most ideal form of carrying books around, especially for travellers. However, I am not aware of any reduction in the sales of paperbacks...?
I, for one, still prefer the feel of paper in my hands when I read.
Reading a newspaper during a morning commute to the office with public transport, should also be more convenient with a palmtop than with a large newspaper, but I believe that people will still prefer to actually turn the pages. I suspect it may take almost a generation for newspapers to go.

I loved the comment, "The only time I really want a paper newspaper is when I poop." TMI?
