Nano-layered plastic sheet is strong as steel
Nano-layered plastic sheet is strong as steel
A new transparent, composite plastic as strong as steel and as thin as a sheet of paper has been developed. The plastic could be used one day to produce lighter, stronger armour for soldiers or police and their vehicles. It also has potential to reduce the energy required to separate gasses in chemical factories and improve microtechnology such as microchips or biomedical sensors. picked by AutumnLotus 1 year ago

FSU actually developed stuff like this a while ago. Its called bucky paper FSU has an amazing scientific research center. There are always headlines on the website about ridiculously awesome stuff they've developed.

Edit: But FSU's version is 250x stronger than steel. What now?

Roswell
I may be dense, but I fail to see the connection between the new material and how it's made, and the Roswell "weather balloon", or whatever it was.

(But maybe it's because I can't stop alternatively laughing and cringing about that painful/ridiculous image of the beerbottles dangling from your avatar's nipples!)
