Big deal. Bornbad's been on Vodka IV drip for months with the whole shoulder thing. ;)

Seriously though, it's really great when physicians think outside the box.

This is a fairly common treatment. Like for when you get out of bed and you're just having a really tough time starting your day. For me, anyway.

I would love to see the BAC on this guy. Is there such a thing as 1.00 BAC? Do the meters even measure that high?

It's true, but I have never seen it done to humans.

I used to be a vet tech. We kept a bottle of the stuff in the medicine cabinet for antifreeze poisonings, but there is a time frame to be able to use it. If there are crystals forming in the urine, it is too late.

Anyhoo, we used to dilute it to 20% strength, inject it in a bag and drip it in.

The dogs and cats were totally DRUNK during the whole process, they could barely walk....But, I have seen many a pet be saved by good Ol' Smirnoff.

I am trying to find the clip. It is of Steve-o, who has a nurse put an IV in his arm with a bag full of vodka. He then walks around town and goes to clubs with his vodka IV. It is hilarious. I know it is from Don't Try This At Home, but I just can't find the clip on teh intarwebs.

I did that in intensive care years ago for a person with methanol (wood alcohol) poisoning. The methanol occupies receptors in the liver usually used by ethanol (alcohol for human consumption). Give ethanol, and it replaces the methanol on those receptors, sparing the person's life.

I was waiting for the hangover bit of the article too. The fact that he has fully recovered is amazing. Who would have thought. Will this end up on HOUSE? ER? or Grey's Anatomy?

Does that mean that ethylene glycol and wine is a good mix then?

I'm confused.

Yes, you are. Ethylene glycol goes much better with tequila and grenadine - it's called an anti-sunrise.
