Americans should have more poop in their diets, writes a doctor at Slate.
... in clear contradiction to the views of our own Dr. DEP.
I wouldn't suggest we start feeding poop to kids, but I do believe we should let them play in the dirt and in the rain, and with animals, etc., etc., much more. And as soon as possible, when they are still really small.
Let them build up some resistance, kids actually need to be a bit sick from time to time, then they will be more resistant (and healthier) as adults.

I agree, i did all this crap when i was a kid (Bar the poop-eating) and i can't remember the last time i was ill enough to stop me working/going to college e.t.c
It's true we have anti-bacterial ourselves to the extreme. Remember drinking from the hose? Getting actual dirt on your hands, arms, etc. Yep we have over protected our children. They need to live a little!

Me too.
But I can tell you a hilarious story of people from the Netherlands who came to live and work here in Ghana for a couple of years, and who insisted on bathing their baby in a Milton solution (sterilising fluid for baby bottles for those who've not been there, done that) because they heard the water here was not clean.
Other people have told me they take care not to open their mouth when they shower, just in case some water runs in there. (Probably a good idea anyway, who knows what their singing could sound like.)
Some others worry about brushing their teeth with tap water, even though that is presumable well-dosed with toothpaste when they do so.
I boil and filter my drinking water, and wash my hands often, that's it. And if I feel a bit rough in the morning, it is usually the result of what I've knowingly and voluntarily poured into my body. I recover fast, though.
Thats unbelievable lol, and yeah, i'm the same, i don't boil my drinking water (living in the UK) but i can eat/drink almost anything and i'm fine. Even when i'm hungover, its only for an hour or so, i know people who are bad with it all day!!
