Thank you,California! It disgusts me when I see these complete a*****es smoking in cars with their kids. Especially when it's a baby in a car seat. I could kill those people.

I think the fine should be way more though. $100 just isn't enough.

I agree-- this is a good law. Other states could take a cue from CA. I think it should be more $ as well.

I support this, but not because of the "health risks" concerning second hand smoke. I support this because drivers should pay attention on the road, not on smoking.

Double the fine if the windows are up.

Keep in mind that the fine is money that would have potentially gone to the children though.

WTF People? They are driving a car. Or is hypocrisy the new black this season?

And DoggySpew, if driving is such a drain on your resources that you can't add "holding something" to what you can cope with, please - in all seriousness - I beg you to go hand in your driving licence to the relevant authorities immediately. Walk there. You are not safe.

LOL

I do see the point, parents should pay more attention to their kids health! But honestly, how many are going to get pulled over? Probably none.

And....if the parents have no problems with lighting up in a closed space like a car, then they are probably smoking everywhere else the kids are, ie..the house so it is not going to make that much of a difference.

Besides that fact, it is not like the kids aren't breathing in the air pollution...so what is better? Smoke? Smog? Carbon Monoxide? What is the difference?
