"The auction was for photos only." Photos of cellphones that she put up for $200-250 a piece. Judge Judy is not amused. picked by coldbladed 1 year ago

Normally Judge Judy annoys me. But I thought it was great how she ripped into this brain dead scammer.

Nothing like an impartial judge, and she was Nothing like an impartial judge.

The 'scammer' did try to show her where it said "This is for a photo only" An impartial judge weighs all the evidence and regardless of personal feelinsg

Irregardless of whether it's a KKK member screaming free speech or a scammer trying to say "That's what I advertised" lady justice is blind.

This lady justice was prejudice and her berating of a defendant is inexcusible.

EDIT: Btw, I think the scammer had it coming and I'm glad she got told off.. but a judge still needs to be impartial.

They sign a contract before they go on the show acknowledging that Judge Judy is not an accurate representative of the legal system and is not bound to be an impartial moderator. Thats why these cases could never be used as precedence for actual law.

If you're dumb enough to put yourself into such a situation when you're clearly being a jerk-off thats your bad. The lady should have said no to Judge Judy and insisted on a real court of law instead of a petty claims Captain Kangaroo court. Again, her own fault.

The woman is just so smug and happy with what she did. The first thing that I saw was the weight, then Judge Judy brought it up. I look forward to the case that the Attorney General comes up with. They claim there are more cases against these people.

If that was you who was scammed would you still be saying Justice is blind? Just wondering.

I'm looking into it right now, but I believe that the way the arbitration works is that both parties aren't obligated to actually pay one another, and instead are simply paid by the day and for their efforts. It could be that the scammer thought that an extra hundred bucks and a tongue lashing was worth the effort.

I probably would have too.

Edit: The award limit on Judge Judy, as on most syndi-court shows (and most small claims courts in U.S.), is $5,000. The award for each judgment is paid by the producers of the show, from a fund reserved for each case. About 40 percent of the cases are money judgments, while 60 percent are dismissed. [19]

Both the plaintiff and the defendant receive $100 for their appearance, as well as $35 a day, paid to them by the show.
