I think it's fairly obvious if the kid is overly obese, the parents might have an inkling that he or she is fat.

I saw a fat child today. Given the sugar laced crud the parents were letting it eat, I'm not sure that they knew. I thought about saying something.

Mind you, this was in Scotland, so who can say.
