 'Haunted' swing keeps rocking
'Haunted' swing keeps rocking
An out-of-control playground swing has spooked families and police in Argentina. The swing rocks back and forwards without being touched - and anxious parents have decided the playground must be haunted. Watch the VIDEO. picked by AutumnLotus 2 years ago

I was thinking the same, but the other 2 swings didn't move like the one in the middle.

Big deal...I have seen wind gusts that were very directed.

Heck I have seen mini dust tornadoes pop up from no where.

I have paused the video at 0:12 and can see no apparition. Where should I be looking to find this apparition?

Wow, a video and everything! It must be true. I've also seen a video of a deathstar being blown up. It happened too!

I believe that in '82 they proved that the infamous video of the deathstar blowing up was in fact, a hoax. Sorry. The Government made it up and the deathstar is still a powerful force in the universe to be reckoned with.

As for the swing... If the two swings on either side are 'rusty' or don't move well, and a gust of wind hits all three, the swing in the middle will move while the other two barely budge...

But wind doesn't blow back in forth with the movement of a swing. This wind would have to blow the swing forward, then switch direction and blow the swing back. Otherwise everytime the swing went to go back it would be constantly pushed forward by the wind.

I find it odd, and will file it with Shakespeare..

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

OMG! A swing moving on it's own! I still cannot believe that people in the 21st century are still so ignorant and hopeless that they are always in a constant hypnotized mission to interpret everything in a superstitious context instead of trying to UnderStand the nature of things. That's a simple reason why people are so easy to fool by ads, governments, etc. and their pockets become as empty as their minds. Good luck with the holy swing!

Simple test - wind break. Easy. Tiny cash cow removed.

If it carries on swinging with a wind break in place then someone had better tell those mouth breathers standing around and gawking that they are participants in a fair sized seance.

Oh, and:

No it doesn't. Gravity comes in to play here. With the swing at rest, the force exerted by gravity points directly down and doesn't affect the linear motion of the swing and the wind is able to push it forward. The further it moves from its resting position, i.e. moves around the arc prescribed by the chains, the more the downward pull of gravity resists it's motion. When the downward pull of gravity is enough to counter the applied force of the wind and the existing momentum of the swing, then it will stop its forward motion and begin to fall back down again.

I can provide diagrams if that isn't clear.
