Dog left to die by starvation as a form of art
Dog left to die by starvation as a form of art
Costa Rican artist ties a dog and lets it die of starvation in an exhibition. Do you agree with that? picked by kamaloo 2 years ago

WTH?! That's cruel! That's definitely not art. How was he allowed to do this? How can those people just walk by and see such a thing? I would've tried to untie the dog and take it away. This 'artist' should be jailed and be starved.

Art can take many forms but there are things you shouldn't do. A dog dying of starvation - that happens all the time, I guess. And sure, it is a form of art - this happening in an exhibition where everyone can see it. What I disagree with is making this thing happen, bringing the dog and letting it starve there and not only that, but also visiting this exhibition and not doing anything about it. I signed the petition

i think the only true art that could come of this is if the 'artist' was served with the same fate that he gave the dog. this is completely inhumane and sick, and what really disturbs me are the people standing nonchalantly in the gallery in the background of the pictures like there isn't a helpless creature suffering just feet from them. i don't care if they had arrested me and thrown me in jail, i would have never stood idly by and let this happen.

This passes for art??

The only art I'd like to see from this idiot is him sitting framed by bars while wearing a pink prison uniform.

Next he'll get a grant for his "art."

An artist may suffer for his craft, but no one has the right to force another to suffer in the artists place.

If he wants to make starvation art, he needs to put himself in the exhibit. Since that isn't happening, he needs to be shot and fed to this dog.

I was always under the impression that art was a visual expression of beauty. Watching some weirdo artsy-type psychopath slowly kill his dog is not art; it's mental derangement.

I hope they chain him up in the town square to watch him die. Then he might know how it felt, people passing by and not helping him.

What a friggin barsteward.

I posted this two - missed yours. Glad to see it on the popular links list though. The more people know about it the better. There's a petition to ban Guillermo Habacuc Vargas from the 'Bienal Centroamericana Honduras 2008'.

Here's the link:

Sick f**ker. I would like to see him strung up by rope and starved. Then I would piss on his head and send in the vultures.

It should never be done....

But

Perhaps he is making a parallel between his art and the state of the political economy of the WesternHemisphere???

Or perhaps...

Showing that people will respond to this, as per the link in palmieres's post, but not to the plight of humans in virtually the same position...??

I don't like it, but if he is making such a point, I hope that it gets heard.

Wow, doogal...who is the sick phucker here?

Not art; TORTURE. Look at all those sick f**ks watching this poor dog starve to death! Every person who watched that animal starve should be removed from society and the gene pool. The "artist" should be jailed and publicly humiliated in front of everyone (at the least), or stoned to death after having been starved for weeks (preferable). I can't stand the fact that humans have so little regard for the domesticated animals that look to us for nurturing. WE made this species, and WE are responsible for their wellbeing and care!
I can't express deeply enough how depressed/angry/sick this makes me.

Bingo.

Look at the people up in arms about a street dog that they didn't give two craps about when it was in the alley behind the gallery.

Look at the people up in arms about a forgotten dog when there are thousands of children living in poverty within a 20 miles of the gallery.

He's playing people and the media like a fiddle, and they are dancing along completely oblivious to the fact that they're making his point for him.

Yeah, you can't do anything in the name of art. That is why child porn is illegal. Regular pornography is protected by freedom of speech in the US (at least partially)but child porn victimizes innocent people. Even if you think regular porn is distasteful, it parallels art in this case.
