How the heck can someone operate on the wrong side is beyond me.

I've had to initial the surgery site each time I've had anything cut into.

OK, seems like a good idea. And what should I say instead of f**k?

Before my dad's hart surgery, they asked his name, and it did not match the paperwork. My dad said, its not him, the doctor said, oops wrong page, and then, oops, that was the correct page, and then everybody started to panic or so it seemed. They located the right guy for the surgery, and my dad got to the correct surgery room. As far as I know he started to be scared only after he got home from the hospital.

It is scary to think that stuff like happens frequently. But there is a reason they have you sign papers before they put you under. I am in no way saying it is ok to make such outrageous errors, my goodness! It is crazy. And well, as I said at the beginning of my little ramble, SCARY.
