If you decide to use the pumpkin for cooking you can file a form to get refunded the tax. How much would it be? Iowa must be really hard up for funds to tax pumpkins, oh, I mean jack-o-lanterns.

If you are in Utah you already pay tax on pumpkins. All food is taxed.

How would a person prove they were going to eat it. Have the tax man follow them home and watch. Pretty silly.
