Been there, done that. But in my case, I used a plastic 2litre Coke bottle, punched little holes in it, jammed the garden hose into the bottle, wrapped a rag around it to minimise leakage from the bottle's mouth, and that was it.
Cost: Zero (unless you count the Coke, which we drank, anyway).

This is very true. And you can use it to your advantage - a couple of hours peace for the investment of an empty pop bottle, some pens and a hose? Sounds like a good deal to me. And your man will be happy to - everybody wins.
