Probably not a heart thing, it took im a day to get sick, and 4 days to die.

Unless the slap broke the skin (or his jaw) and caused an infection, I can't see how a slap would make you sick. In pain, hurt, upset, injured, but not sick. They didn't say "he died from his injuries" they said he got sick.

If they are related at all, it was probably that the family "treated" the child (or punished him) with a "family cure". Allergies or a lack of built up tolerance to whatever poison they used would explain "sick" and four days of suffering.

Likely they are coincidental, not related. I think dad is just looking for someone to blame for the senseless death of his child.
