Why did I not find this until now? Great find, 2many! I wish I could upvote this more than once.

My brother was once asked if he could have any wish granted, would he wish that he could hear again. (He lost his hearing at the age of 3 to meningitis.) He said no - he wouldn't wish to be hearing. He'd wish for the rest of us to be deaf. Pretty profound thinking for a kid of 8 years old (at the time).
