Who DIDN'T have mental health problems as a teenager?! If all of us had our parenting skills based on what we did when we were 16, I think A LOT of us would be in this boat with her.

IMO this is completley out of order. The Social services in this country are a joke. This poor woman is going through hell because of something which occured 7 years ago, yet the SS who could quite easily take her child, fail to protect children who are at much more of an immediate risk on a daily basis. As 2many said, these people do not have psychology doctorates and as such should be prevented from taking any such course of action untill the woman has undergone a proper psychological examination.

I know I am going to get slammed for this but how many times have you said "some people should not have kids". I bet all of you have. It's not until too late anybody does something about it though. After the kids have been hurt maimed or killed in some atrocious manner. Then all the neighbors some out to tell the TV cameras " I knew something waqsn't right over there, what with all the wailing and screaming and bloody carcasses in the yard".

I commend Big Brother, I mean I commend the British Government for taking a pre-emptive approach. Why wait for the child to be killed by it's parents when it can be placed in a safe rape camp, I mean foster home, and given a chance to be "normal".

Oh my god. Considering what I've been through during adolescence, they'd probably do the same to me. Only monitor me during pregnancy as well. Thank f**k I live in Canada (and don't want kids anyway). Though being in Canada didn't help me last time.

This kind of thing is why I don't like to tell social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, or doctors anything. Unless I'm sure they can't use it against me, or I'm in immediate danger, I've learned the hard way to keep my mouth shut.

My wife is a doctoral candiate in psychology and she has informed me that there is a huge difference in people that self harm with Borderline Personality disorders and those that self harm via Munchausen's Syndrome. As I understand the BPD people will often cut themselves but noy usually causing serious harm to themselves and the end goal is some kind of emotional regulation. The MS people will do anything to themselves with potentially serious side effects like death. They will poison themselves or something else with the end desire being the attention they will recieve while ill or injured.

Ellz it's not the social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, or doctors that will use things against you. It's the a*****es in those fields that will. Most people I know involved in medicine or anything like that genuinely want to help make life better. Some on the other hand are on a total power trip.
