the building has already been nicknamed ‘corn on the cob’ by unhappy locals.
I don't know about you, but I love corn on the cob. Yum!

Great find!

I want to see these buildings when they are completed. The marvels us humans can create!

My first thoughts were earthquakes - I'd hate to be anywhere too tall if the planet decides to move a bit.

Come to London - we have a Gherkin

At least that's what it's called.

Not what it makes me think of...

Maybe it's just the Colorado girl in me that likes the local sinage restrictions and what not..

What is the fascination with being the tallest or biggest? Can't you be interesting and cool without hogging up the view? I immediately thought *penis envy* when I pulled those up. Any one of those would be an architectural marvel even on a reasonable scale.

It's at least a smart idea for urban areas... when you have no more room to grow laterally, build vertically.

Is it just me, or does the Chicago Spire look like some crazy dildo?

Um. Yeah. Penis envy. It definitely seems to play a role in this. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the Chicago Spire looked like a giant dildo.

Spire:

Dildo:

Not a perfect match, I know... I'm sure I've seen one that looks exactly like the building though.

well, I mean, maybe when you run out of room that's a sign that perhaps it's time to put up the "no vacancy" sign? I'm not a city planner and I also appreciate restrictions on urban sprawl, but having the capacity to have a miniture city in one building has got to screw with the eco of the area (resources, congestion...etc)
