Why doesn't he just walk away in the beginning?
That lizard punches with the speed of a sedated tortoise. How fast could it run?

Somehow, it probably managed to kill a redshirt, as well.

Yeah, the Gorn killed a redshirt... but it used heavy weapons fire to do it. As much as I love Trek, this has GOT to be one of the worst fight scenes in the history of TV.
Bleh.

Because. Captain. Kirk. Doesn't. Run. And-besides. He. Wouldn't. Get. To-Rip. His. Shirt. And-display. His. Awesomeness.

Because their were in a dual set up by a superior species, and they'd only return the winner to his ship. So he had nowhere to run.

edit: This comment got more upvotes than most of the links I post. I can't figure out if that makes me a geek or you guys.

I always thought of the Land of the Lost when I saw this.

Yes, yes, I know that the glorious Star Trek came WAY before Land of the Lost. I was young. What can I say.

EDIT: The Amok Time scene is my favorite episode EVER. I love the reaction of Spock when he sees Kirk in the infirmary.

Apparently, tossing a rock at a lizardman doesn't hurt him, but lightly cupping your hands on the side of his face does.

I was watching this when a friend called me
I paused at 1:02, and when i returned to the computer, snorted the lemonade i was drinking out of my nose.

Star Wars > Star Trek

Star Wars has never caused me lemon and sugar based pain before.

I thought of Land of the Lost too! Hahaha. I seem to remember that once upon a time there could only be so many acts of violence on TV. Now we not only see full contact, blood, and flesh wounds, we get gruesome sounds affects as well.
