Puppy survives 4 days in the freezer...after euthanasia Posted: 2 years ago by TraumaMamma
On the Monday, 11/12, she was euthanized by lethal injection.

On Friday, 11/16, she was found in the shelter freezer by a worker STILL ALIVE!! She was buried under the bodies of other dogs that had been euthanized and had been there for four days! Sadly, this isn't the first time it has happened at this shelter.

And here is the petition site.

Gabby petition site

The shelter worker, Jamie Glandon, who found Gabby in the freezer refused and removed her from the premises. She had her vetted and placed her with a rescue for protection and recuperation.

This same shelter worker is dealing with intimidation and threats over this situation because she didn’t just follow orders, she removed the dog and now this is whole issue becoming public.

She removed the puppy and informed her administrator and was told to take the puppy to the a vet’s to be euthanized again. Then she appealed to the mayor himself. He told her to take the puppy to a vet’s and he would take of of the bill to euthanize the puppy.

Isn't it? I applaud ANY shelter that uses lethal injection....Our county uses gas and I hate it. It is painful, scary and takes 30 minutes. It is barbaric.

HOWEVER, I used to work for a vet. We had a large animal practice as well, we had a horse surgery room and we also did have to put down horses as well. Done correctly, in small animals as I have held MANY, it is peaceful and final. It seems to me they underdose many and put them in a freezer to finish them off. Also, if they are doing Cardiac sticks they are very painful to the awake and aware animal. We had to do those kinds of injections in extreme situations or for wildlife that we couldn't get close to or handle, but that is the exception, not the rule. (lethal injection into the heart).

FYI, dogs have survived the gas chamber as well.

Amazing Grace

This is so sad, I really hope Gabby can be spared.

I wonder if the shelter is diluting their injections to save money? How sad.

If I were a bettin' woman I would say yes, chickie, on the dilution. I am sure Gabby will have a good home. She is so pretty.

Our vet had a pit which we buried animals on our premise.(Some people cannot bury their animals at home as they would like, and some cannot afford the cremation) We also dug holes for horses.(Horses can be a little more dangerous to euth) Other places cremate.

However, we used a stethoscope and listened for a minute after each euth to confirm they were gone.

No vet I have EVER worked for would allow us to bag an animal until we were 100% sure there was NO heartbeat!

Animal SHELTER!! What sort of shelter is it? Don't they attempt to rehome any animals? Other dead animals on top of it - how many are they bumping off a day?

What's grosser than a bunch of dead doggies piled up in a freezer?

The one at that bottom that's alive and eating its way to the top.

(sorry, I had to)

Mwuahahahaha

That's alright. I expected downvotes on this one. It's worth it, though; no matter how many downvotes it gets.
