It will buy you THREE houses? I always thought California to be a lot pricier than that. Although, where I live, it will buy you five average family homes.

But it's still not enough for me.

Within the Bay Area prices have dropped a bit recently in much the same way Pluto moves nearer to the Sun. Sure it is lower but it is still way out there. Only an old condo or trailer home comes in under $400K.

Where do you live? Marin. I read in the newspaper today that houses in the valley are bottoming at 250K.

South Bay. The asking price for my neighbor's 3 bedroom, 1,200 sq ft house built in 1969 on a 5,000 sq ft lot is $749,000. And he had buyers all weekend long.
