If all the various articles are to be believed it seems like the Asians in particular have no regard for animal life or wellbeing.

The arrogance of human superiority is at it's worst
when killing animals for entertainment.

This is a culture that abandons baby girls in the street.

I had trouble believing this article...it's so horrific.

I don't. They are cruel to their own countries pets, rather than do any teaching and preventative medicine for the animals, they decide to kill them.

China Cruelty

Japan is just as bad. Whaling for scientific reasons? suuuuure.

Dolphin slaughter

Shark Finning

Tiger penis

Rhino Horn

You know, for a country with so many erectile dysfunctions they sure do have heaps of people.

This made me so very sad.
It's one thing to watch an animal kill another in nature (on safari, or a documentary) but for the purpose of human entertainment?
Horrifying.

If animals are encouraged to do that to each other, how long will it be before it's acceptable for people to kill each other for entertainment?

this is awful. i can imagine its disastrous for the health of the lions and tigers. they're simply overfeeding them and making them bloodthirsty. i'm sure this will result in human lives lost. people are idiots.

aren't there animal rights groups all over this??!

Just imagine what will happen if one of those big cats get out. We've all seen how dangerous American couch-potato tigers are.

animal rights groups do not have jurisdiction in their country, plus meat is what those animals eat , they are large cats. those sharp claws and big teeth are not for ripping apart plants.

plus you should be glad they feed them goats and not christians like the romans did

although i do think that death row inmates should be put in there , people like child molesters, rapist , gang members child killers, jay walkers you know give them a fair fight to live or die with a pack of lions, it sure would cut down on crime

I have actually been to a Chinese zoo and seen this happen. There was a large cage, and several near tame tigers. A young cow was led in, and the tigers released. Only, the tigers weren't exactly sure what to do. THey chased the terrified cow around for a while, but would get bored and head back to their cages, where the zoo keepers would stun them through the bars with a tazer. Eventually, one of the tigers ran down the cow and tried to attack it, but didn't get too far. The cow was still alive when the zoo keepers came in about half an hour later and pulled it into a truck.
The worst thing was watching the people. There was a woman with a little kid, who was frightened. The mother kept trying to get the kid to watch. The rest of the zoo wasn't as aweful as described in the article, but it wasn't great, either. Not nearly enough space for animals like the pandas and big cats.
I did get to play with a baby lion, which was kind of cool.
