seriously? why do people hate bicycles so much? Most people drive their cars everywhere, even the corner store for a pack of gum. If people would just walk/bicycle everytime they needed to go less than 2miles we wouldn't need to worry about hybrids.

If people propelled themselves on <2mi journeys, not only would there be little need for hybrids, but obesity would probably not be an epidemic!
We had thought about moving to the suburbs last time we (mr. monkey and I) moved, and I'm glad we stayed downtown. We can both walk to work, walk to do our shopping.... I love it!

not that i am for this car or anything but there are someplaces where walking or even biking is not really an option. here in oklahoma there really aren't many places to live within walking or biking distance from work and there is no mass transit to help either. i would love to be able to take a train to work but it is not available. also the way the weather is makes it hard to commit to a point of riding a bike, we often have days where there is 40 or 50 degrees difference from morning to afternoon and you never know when a storm will pop up.
i do agree that automakers need to think before they count their money, if this was an electric car or something that was propelled by an alternative fuel then i am all for it.

Agreed. Although I live in LA, the nearest place to get food of any sort is at least 2 miles away, through hills that are quite steep. Bicycling just wouldn't be comfortable if I was in acceptable health. But I only drive my car about 3000 miles a year.... We have very little in the way of usable alternatives. The nearest stop for the subway is about 15 miles through rough traffic, and parking in a crime ridden area.
The idea behind this Tata car is, I believe, that it runs on compressed air, at 1 horsepower. That shouldn't add to the world's pollution very much. Might be nice in Delhi, but not here, thanks... A Prius will be fine, or the new Malibu hybrid.

It's not welded together, it uses "Plastics and Adhesives" (glue? tape?)
It's not a solid body of metal, it uses "Sheet metal and plastic"
I'm thinking the first time that thing gets hit by a 'real car' that it's going to be a pancake. By the way, no airbags, air conditioning, or power steering.
If you buy a cheap car, expect it to be cheap.

I saw this in the morning news and the people started making fun of it at the end because of how small it was. I thought it was pretty funny my self.
