I felt like this when I saw Beastmaster as a young girl. When his dog died I think I cried for days. They are absolutely right.

You know, I would totally have wanted to see "I Am Legend" in the theater if this hadn't been a factor. I just can't handle it... I guess I'm a softy.

I thought it was a great scene. Not because they killed off a canine character, but because it added realism and made the movie that much more dramatic. I admit, I am not a dog lover (accident as child pushed dogs away from me) but that scene was almost a tear jerker for me. It was filmed very well and not really that graphic. This is just my opinoin.

omg, yes....

I loved that movie.

It reminds me so much of my dog, who waits and pines on my daughters daybed waiting for her to come back.

Doesn't she LOOK sad? She stays in the room for day, hardly eats and comes out to go out to pee/poop. She PINES on the bed. It kills me to look at her.

And when she is happiest

Where the Red Fern Grows. Oh dear god! Gut wrenching, hysterical sobbing. The worst part was my 6th grade teacher read it to us in class. *Try not to cry because classmates might see/hear* (they were all probably thinking the same thing). Then... I saw the movie.

I tell ya, a dog's love for his/her person is the truest form of love I have ever seen. As much as I love cats, I have to admit that there's nothing like dog love.

Oh, I almost cry when I see her when my daughter leaves. I don't think I have picture with Ashley without Stitch in it.

I dread the day I have to say goodbye to her. Best dog I ever owned. She isn't stupid (my other two are kinda "special") and very empathetic. Which is why she makes an awesome therapy dog!

I walked out of I am Legend.
I saw that dog, and was like "She's gonna die. He's gonna have to kill his dog. Screw this! I'm not bawling in front of a huge group of my peers!"

It didn't help that I was terrified of the vampires too.

Strangely enough it has never bothered me seeing animals die in movies because I know it's not real.

The Iron Giant however, has me crying like a big girl everytime I watch it and he flies up into the sky and says "I'm Superman" before being blown up by the nuke.

I know it's not real... I guess it's just the idea of the situation that gets to me. As for non-critter deaths making me cry (and I shouldn't admit this because you'll all point at me and laugh) I can never watch Alien Resurrection again. No kidding, I sat in the theater for almost 10 solid minutes just sobbing my eyes out. Even thinking about it gets me all worked up again.

Lotsa dog-killing in No Country For Old Men too. Did he not see that one? :p

I'd be devestated. My dog is like a son.

I guess the writer missed the whole point of storytelling: you don't kill random people in the background, you go for the emotional jugular vein.

I am typing 1 handed because my dog keeps bringing me her toys to play with.

I remember "Where the Red Fern Grows" and I cannot think of it as a sad bool because there were too many happy moments...

However the movie Homeward bound really gets to me. I just feel so bad for those little kids and poor Chance.
