w00t!
*ahem*
I mean... police involved with the investigation say at least one of the young men was intoxicated AND standing on the rail on the enclosure. picked by Rowangrey 8 months ago

Oh yeah, woot. How inhumane of them to "yell and wave" at the tiger. They must be evil cold-hearted b*****ds. They deserved to be brutally mauled for that. Drunk and high or not, they deserved to die.

Poor tiger.

I don't think we should cheer for the tiger mauling them though. If there were kids just trying to talk to the tiger by growling and the result was the same, would you all still be cheering? I think not.

I think the point wasn't 'go tiger, go' but more along the lines of 'messing with huge predators is a bad idea.' Yes, the enclosure should have been up to spec, but teasing animals is cruel. The kids should have learned that lesson at home, in smaller ways, but that still doesn't mean this should have happened to them.

Teasing is looked down upon. But I believe from my personal experience that their hand waving is what truly triggered him to attack. Since animals always try to appear bigger when they run into others on their territory. In the Tiger's mind, they were challenging him and he didn't back down. That's what I think happened.

"brutally mauled"? Are you saying the tiger acted with cold-hearted, pre-meditated intent? You are painting just as biased a picture as you claim I am.

For the record, the "w00t!" was because, previously, the victims' lawyers had been making preparations to sue the zoo (or was it the city?) because of the attack. If the police investigation showed (as the article claims) that the young men not only were drunk, high and were deliberately taunting the tiger AS WELL AS disobeying the safety precautions put in place by the zoo (they were standing on the guard rail), they won't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning any kind of suit, which would have been ridiculous.

You have repeatedly come into threds/news posts I have created, seemingly deliberately, to rain on my parade. If you have a problem with me, I ask that you address it in PMs.

Calm down. I don't have the slightest problem with you, and I never said you were biased. Please know that I wasn't directing the comment at you at all. I was just making a joke.

I'm sincerely sorry that I've somehow managed to come across as if I'm intentionally picking on you, or anyone else for that matter. In future, I will give more thought to the possible interpretations of my comments so that we can avoid this miscommunication.

Here's a good rule of thumb: don't taunt or tease wild animals - especially the ones who often have the descriptive phrase "man-eating" attached to their names - even if you believe it's in a secure cage.

It takes more than average taunting to motivate an animal to try and escape...plus anyone remember the dudes were underage, drunk in public?
