I wouldn't normally post a news story like this, but I was part of this. We got a letter in the mail Friday saying that our principal was demoted and they said nothing more. So all the students got together and said to wear all black, and to sit in intersection of the math and science hallways in our school before our first hour, and dont move.
I was one of the people there for the sit-in (no I wasnt one of the suspended). Around 200 kids showed up, and for such a small school, it was incredible.

The case is under review, and from what I hear (not a student rumor, this is from a teacher) is that one of the people in another high leadership position is the person that got him in trouble, and they never saw eye to eye. picked by cycostinkoman 2 years ago

As a former teacher, I can say that one's worst enemy is the Administration...if the teachers' union is saying that he has been ignoring or neglecting their concerns, they are probably right...

Principals are set against the Teachers by local boards, the federal government (thru high-stakes testing), and 'discipline plans' that usually punish entire schools (starting w/ principals) for having too many suspensions or kids in trouble...because it is the school's fault the kid is a jackass, right?

He may have been popular with the students...he may have been a good principal...but to be removed from a position after 13 years (a stint unheard of in modern education's belief that parts are interchangable) must have taken 1)something relatively serious or neglectful and 2)some SERIOUS effort on the part of the union (again, implying something noteworthy).

Thats one thing the news has confused. The teachers are full supporters to get him back. (Some teachers were mad because this made them seem against him). Ive seen maybe 3 teachers in the school that have worn something other than black since monday.

The person who got him demoted never got along with him. They are trying to get him back, so its not like he was fired after 13 years, he has been demoted until they find out if what the other man said was true.

Hoe did it end?

When tuition fees were charged for the first time at my old uni in 2006, about 200 students organized a sit-in at the principals office. I got in via ladder to a 2nd floor window after the cops had sealed off the entire builing, and since I happened to have a video camera with me, I was mistaken for press staff and was able to almost move freely most of the time. They had to drag out about 90 people to end the event, and one was injured. Scary thing was that the rectorate actually had force used to deal with their own students, who were just sitting there, refusing to leave.

The ho's are still at the school, they didn't end.

The sit-in however ended with a few 3 day suspensions. One of the kids announced basically that we did our thing and to make any more progress we should leave and attend the school board meeting.
