Sorry Message Hangs Over Australia Day

Reconciliation was a dominant theme as millions of people celebrated Australia Day, which included a mystery skywriter scrawling "sorry" above Sydney Harbour.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd promised to say sorry to Aborigines for past injustices, reversing an 11-year policy under the previous conservative government that damaged race relations.

Since 1994 all states and territories have celebrated Australia Day on 26 January.[1] If Australia Day occurs on a weekend, however, a public holiday is observed on the nearest Monday.

So tomorrow will be a public holiday down under, since it will be the "nearest Monday" to this Sunday...
