I've flown into a few runways that are sketchier than those listed, but I've always been on bush planes so that sort of thing is normal.

I think that sloped one in France is super cool.

I think the ones that don't result in a dead me are super cool. Ice and grass runways are what freak me out.

I know, eh? We had a runway in one of the camps I lived in up north that was WAY too short and always had x-winds. Someone took a sweet pic of the twin's wheels almost in the lake before taking off just in the nic of time. We all had bet that the front of the plane smelled like poo after that.

Really? How do you feel about water runways (aka lakes)?

I'd prefer to land on an ice or grass runway any day. Probably because that means I'm not at some busy airport full of morons.... but I like the bush flying.

I've been to the St. Bart's runway and it is a little alarming coming in. No mention of the airport in Kodiak Alaska. The end of that runway is a wall of rock, the base of a cliff so there's little margin for error when landing.

I used to live in Kodiak, and it's true. You come off the ocean and if you are 20ft short, you're in the water on a cliff face. On the far side of the runway is the main road and then.. A mountain. F14 came in too fast once.. they cleaned that wreck off the side of the mountain for quite some time.

It connects to the Coast Guard base via a taxiway which crosses another road. Every transfer season people would stop at the stop sign which read "Airplane Crossing" and if you took the 'first turn onto the really big road' you drove down the runway towards the C130s. You had to stop, cross the runway and THEN turn.
