Flying saucer spotted over Portsmouth (or is it a trick of the light)
Flying saucer spotted over Portsmouth (or is it a trick of the light)
A photographer who stopped on a whim to take some pictures at night might have chanced upon a real UFO. Cynics will dismiss the orange-tinged image showing what appears to be a flying saucer as some kind of technical wizardry to trick of the light. But experts are already saying it could really show a UFO in flight above the UK.

Edit: The Daily Mail have pulled the original article so I've changed it for the forum posting they took the story from. Scroll down past the video - that's not what it is. picked by AutumnLotus 10 months ago

She said: "It would be very difficult to fake that photo and the UFO is at a tilt, which is the way they normally fly.
Amazing that it is known how Unidentified Flying Objects "normally" fly..., isn't it? And I'm sure there are some of us here who can already think of ways to fake a photograph like that.

Even if that was a REAL photograph. Its still lame.

Id rather see a more realistic looking UFO than that piece of crap.

Thats the ghetto version of a ufo.

I bet that thing doesn't even have air conditioning!

That's what I was thinking. I'll bet this guy that has such a master working knowledge of extraterrestrial aircraft drives a chevette and lives in his mom's basement. (no offence to those that meet that criteria. i have driven a chevette and lived at home longer than i should have, but never have i claimed to know how ufos fly)

There are two reasons why I don't believe in UFO's (or ghosts, basically for the same reasons):

1. If they wanted to show themselves to us, and they are so very much more advanced than we are, they are not doing it very well.

2. If they wanted to hide from us, and they are so much more advanced than we are, they are not doing it very well.

Yes, exactly - in fact, the whole idea of a "UFO expert" amuses me.
Trust the daily mail to quote them as if it's fact. Why are so many of the links on plime to articles from this rag?

I do believe in the possibility of aliens though. But I also believe if they were advanced enough to reach our planet we would have met them by now.

It would probably require half the technology just to send a message from their planet to ours...

So while its possible aliens exist (due to millions of galaxies in the universe) its unlikely they're significantly further along in the space race than we are.

Yes... but if they WERE here, then they WOULD be likely to be more advanced, for the same reason: The vastness of space, and the difficulties of travelling/communicating through it.

And even if they were, it's pretty damn unlikely they'll fit our alien-flying-saucer sterotype...

I'm undecided on the question of alien life, at least in our galaxy. The trouble is, the only way anyone's come up with for measuring its probability, or the probability of human-alien communication, is the Drake Equation - which has so many uncertain variables it can be tweaked to favour either argument..

just wimly take some photos....

The 28-year-old, from Portsmouth, Hants, was driving home from work through thick fog when he decided to stop and get some snaps of the eerie setting.

He pulled up and went to take the shots from a car park near Commercial Road, Portsmouth, just after midnight.

It was not until he got home and transferred the shots onto his computer that he spotted the mysterious glowing object.

Mr Rahman said: "I didn't spot anything when I took the picture but then later on when I looked a bit closer and zoomed in, there it was.

The Ministry of Defence would not comment on individual sightings and said they could not check if there were any aircrafts in the vicinity at the time.

An MoD spokesperson said: "The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

"Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported."

maybe they're alien

The aliens are probably just waiting for the housing bust to peak before they start buying and flipping properties for our new Alien Masters.

These undocumented migrants will probably then help build super magneto-highways, floating buildings, and of course immorally tantalizing, green, slave-girls.

I suggest we build a giant dome to keep them out.

We are a ready being controlled by lizard people from out of space. President Bush is actually one of the leaders of this lizard alien race.

What, is it supposed to look like what YOU want it to look like? so let me get this straight, if it doesn't jibe right with you...(center of the universe) then it could'nt possibly exist, right?

They are introducing themselves via the "trickle" method. first they start off capturing moronic, backwoods, religious zealots from the midwest because they are so stuck in their religious beliefs that they can only scratch their heads and tell stories that won't be believed anyway. (little credibility from bumpkins)
Remember sheeple. THEY are the architects of the cover-up. Not our impotent government.
We would all have nervous breakdowns if we really knew what was going on...

I wonder that myself, but I think that not many people outside the UK understand what a right wing, agenda driven, hate machine it is. At first glance it does seem like a view of the more whimsical aspects of life here.

But they've now pulled the article - no evidence, but I'd put money on it being for using the pictures without authorisation...

But whatever the cause, I found the photographer's original post of this on a forum.
