Ahhggg! I would love to politely answer each one of his silly statements but he has turned off comments. His points are do laughable. It would be fun to debate him or rather shoot his ass down.

Besides complaining about a forum discussion that is almost as old as Plime is silly

I am upvoting punthe for finding this. I can only presume that the person who wrote that is incredibly narrow minded otherwise he/she/it would have left the topic up for debate.

[sarcasm] Welcome to the society where people's opinions are fact. [/sarcasm]

And since when did 'keeping a diary', because that is what blogging is, replaced newsworthy journalism?

Absolutely right, very well said in as few words as possible. Excellent.

About Plime
Plime is an editable wiki community where users can add and edit weird and interesting links. Users earn karma when other users vote on their actions. The more karma you have, the more power you have at Plime.

Your opinions, however, do not give you the right to determine what's suitable for Plime.
These 2 little arrows on the right say otherwise.

I e-mailed him this:

I would like to answer your article "My Response to a Forum Topic on Plime"

First of all, that thread was 12 months old. That was when Plime was trying to "discover itself" figure out the rules that we would operate the system by.

The rule against blogs has greatly changed. Blogs are perfectly fine to post. They are not the preferred link, but often times they are a better link due to the comments that are usually included, something that is often missing from newspaper sites.

Sometimes what we'll do is link to the newspaper with the original story and include a link to the blog covering it in the description.

What hasn't changed is the fact that we disallow self-linking. You are correct that an author wants to promote his product, any person wants to promote their product, however that promotion has an expense attached to it.

Bloggers place ads on their sites to make money. This is fine. This is Great! However they do not allow those advertisers to place free ads on their sites do they?

The self-gain aspect is 100% relevant. Plime does not exist for free advertising. Pure and simple. Others, those not connected to a site can post links to that site if they find an interesting article, it is only the site owner or those connected to him/her that are not allowed to advertise themselves.

I do not gain anything from participating on this site, no more than I gain from participating on other sites including other's blogs. That isn't a lie, that is common sense.

My opinion doesn't give me the right to determine what's suitable for Plime, but OUR opinion, the opinion of the community does determine what's suitable for Plime.

Also many bloggers who post nothing but their own sites do not participate. They do not comment or vote on other links. They just use Plime for free advertising. That simply can not be done. I am sure you can understand that.

There are places on the site that you can post your own sites. You can post it to your bio. You can post in in certain parts of the forum.

All in all it is very friendly and extremely democratic.

I hope you come back. I even hope you post your own blog from time to time in the forums.

No, I didn't notice it was a year old. I wonder what happened to him. He looked like he learned the rules and was doing fine.

I am really glad now that I didn't go off on him.

That was RTCA, and this article was from almost a year ago. RTCA was a decent member here for a while, he came in as a blogger, tried to link to his stuff and was told not to and was pointed to the 'post your blog' thread. He respected that and refrained from doing so and only posted a few links in the "post your blog" thread. He made some quality posts and comments on the site. In the link dolly pointed us to I think he made a pretty solid point (if you read past the headline) when he said "The site nazis aren't all to blame, however. I can see where a lot of them are coming from. There are bloggers that are nothing more than spammers that continue to strafe these sites with useless, rehashed, and stolen material, all in the name of the mighty buck. You've seen them, I've seen them, we've all seen them. We hate them as much as the site nazis do. They make the "real" bloggers look bad and the real bloggers tend to get lumped in with them."

He also enlightened the masses to the truth three or four days later here. Please take a moment to read that before you judge the man.
