How to convert your HD DVDs to Blu-Ray
How to convert your HD DVDs to Blu-Ray
Technically it is illegal, but for those who are stuck with HD DVDs, here is how to convert them to Blu-Ray. Basically you, connect your player to your PC, remove DRM and copy the files to your hard disc, convert audio and video to Blu-ray-friendly format, burn. An alternative option is to use an HD capture card, then burn. picked by 2manyusernames 2 years ago

It is not illegal where I come from.
Even so, why go through all this trouble when the format is now officially dead ?

I guess because it is dead. People may have a bunch of HD DVDs and can't fix the player for it or get one with the newest features.

The problem is that when you add the time and cost of blank Blu-Ray how much money are you saving over purchasing new copies.

I don't know as I have no idea what the expenses are.

Blank discs are about $15 and a recorder is somewhere in the region of $600.

So if it's less than 30 discs, probably best to buy them again. More than and it begins to look worthwhile.
